Self-discovery is the act or process of gaining knowledge and understanding of your abilities, feelings, true potential, character and motives.

Changing your beliefs is one major key to changing your life. A belief is an idea you assume to be the truth. It affects your perception of yourself and the world.

Many people are trapped by self-defeating beliefs and habits. They believe they cannot change, because they believe their habits are who they really are. Fear of pain also stops many people from changing.

Words create beliefs and have the power to inspire or defeat us. Many of our beliefs, desires and behaviors were not created by us alone. People learn what to believe and how to act.

Your personality is mainly a collection of learned and practiced thinking patterns. Beliefs about yourself and the world will influence how you will think, feel and act. A change in beliefs and habits will change your personality.

Do you have unrealistic expectations? Do you believe you should be perfect? Do you believe there are perfect people? Do you believe there are normal and abnormal people? Do you believe status symbols or physical appearances are the ways to measure self-worth?

Take at least 1 hour every week to examine a belief that causes negative feelings. Talk to a friend about that belief to see if it’s realistic. You will empower each other with new knowledge and understanding. Awareness of the truth can often set us free.

If you want to feel confident and happy more often, then accept yourself and others as imperfect. Practice using words and images to create new beliefs, habits and desired emotions. Tell yourself positive affirmations and visualize pleasant memories everyday.

Let go of your grudges and forgive yourself and others for their mistakes and selfishness. We are spirit beings with temporary beliefs and behaviors.
